Patient Instructions

Important information before and after your procedure

  • Continue regular medications unless instructed otherwise
  • Avoid blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen) for 3 days prior unless medically necessary
  • Shower with antibacterial soap the morning of your procedure
  • Eat a light meal 2 hours before your appointment
  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the treatment area

For Sutured Wounds:

  1. Keep the wound dry for 48 hours
  2. Apply antibiotic ointment twice daily
  3. Cover with a clean bandage
  4. Avoid strenuous activity for 5-7 days

For Drained Abscesses:

  1. Change packing as instructed (usually daily)
  2. Take all prescribed antibiotics
  3. Watch for increasing redness or pain
  4. Return for follow-up in 2-3 days

Contact our clinic immediately if you experience:

  • Fever over 100.4°F (38°C)
  • Increasing pain, redness, or swelling
  • Pus or foul-smelling drainage
  • Bleeding that won't stop with pressure
  • Sutures that come apart
